Sustainability doesn't start yesterday. And certainly not at Hotel Pointner. For us, it began in 1973, and since then the whole family has been helping to make organic not just on paper, but in everyday life. At the heart of this idea? Our wholesome, vegetarian organic cuisine. We grind the flour fresh in the East Tyrolean grain mill, the boss herself is at the stove, and we know exactly where our roots lie: in the soil and in the region. For over 50 years with heart and handshake.

We are us. Genuine, authentic and firmly rooted in the region. Our wholesome vegetarian cuisine, spiritual retreats and mindfulness towards nature, people and animals are not a programme, but an attitude. Transparent, responsible and with the aim of keeping the added value here in the valley.

Chronicle & History

Our story begins in the 20th century. With a bed and breakfast, a big dream and a lot of passion. From small beginnings, the Organic and Seminar Hotel Pointner grew step by step into what it is today.

From the foundation in 1973 to the Austria Bio Garantie 2000

  • 1973 Founding of Hotel Pointner
    A childhood dream becomes reality: Florian Pointner opens the "Florian" bed and breakfast - the foundation stone for today's Hotel Pointner.
  • 1979 Start of wholefood cuisine
    The hotel becomes the "Gesundheitshotel Florian". Even then, half of all ingredients come from controlled organic cultivation.
  • 1989 First seminar house
    Opening of today's Sivananda Yoga Seminar House.
  • 1990 New concept
    Renamed "health and non-smoking hotel". Since then, the hotel has been meat-free and non-smoking.
  • 1994 Tyrolean Environmental Seal of Quality
    Awarded the Tyrolean Environmental Seal of Quality - later replaced by the Austrian Ecolabel.
  • 1995 Organic farm & "Grüne Haube"
    The associated farm is managed organically and receives the "Bio Ernte Austria" emblem. The kitchen is awarded the "Grüne Haube" for wholefood and natural cuisine.
  • 1998 Austrian Ecolabel
    The health and non-smoking Hotel Florian is the first hotel in Tyrol to be awarded the Austrian Ecolabel.
  • 1999 Second seminar house
    Opening of the second seminar house.
  • 2000 Austria Bio Garantie
    Since 2000, the hotel has been regularly inspected for compliance with organic guidelines.

2001 Realisation of the car-free zone until today

  • 2001 Car-free zone
    A car-free zone is created between the hotel and the seminar houses - more peace and security for all guests.
  • 2002 Green electricity
    Since February 1, 2002, we have been using only ecologically generated electricity. This made us the first hotel in Austria to completely dispense with nuclear power.
  • 2003 European Ecolabel
    First hotel in Austria and third in Europe to be awarded the European Ecolabel.
  • 2006 Biohotel Florian
    Renamed "Biohotel Florian". Also a finalist in the "Royal Accommodation Award for Sustainable Tourism in Europe", awarded by the European Environment Agency.
  • 2008 Award
    Honored for 10 years as holder of the Austrian Ecolabel.
  • 2009 Generation change
    Florian Pointner hands over the hotel to his wife Alexandra Pointner.
  • 2012 Back to the roots
    Renaming from "Biohotel Florian" to "Hotel Pointner". The name changes, the philosophy remains: only food from controlled organic cultivation (continuously checked by the Austria Bio Garantie) - for our wholesome vegetarian and yogic-vegetarian cuisine.
  • 2019 Official Fairtrade catering partner
    We only serve fairly traded bananas, coffee beans etc. - with a clear conscience and the best taste.
  • 2023 50th anniversary celebration
    We celebrated our 50th anniversary in style - together with family, friends and guests from politics, business and the region.
     

50 years of Organic and Seminar Hotel Pointner

In 2023, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and thus half a century of family history, sustainability and vegetarian enjoyment. Together with guests from politics and business, culinary highlights from our kitchen and a video message from Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler, the evening was a mixture of looking back, appreciation and a good feeling: real sustainability is timeless.
